Polymaker HT-PLA-GF 3D Printer Filament
Polymaker HT-PLA-GF is a 1.75 mm high-temperature PLA reinforced with glass fiber. It prints with ordinary PLA settings but delivers far better heat stability, higher stiffness, and a textured finish that disguises layer lines. It is a practical step up for functional parts that need to survive hot cars, summer sun, or warm workshop environments without the hassle of engineering materials.
Heat Resistance Without the Hassle
HT-PLA-GF keeps its shape up to 150 °C when not under load, compared with roughly 60 °C for regular PLA. For parts that must carry a load while hot, a short annealing step raises the heat deflection temperature even further: heat the finished part at 80–100 °C for 30 minutes, with 100 °C recommended. Annealed parts reach a heat deflection temperature of about 114.7 °C at 0.45 MPa.
Key Features
- Glass fiber–reinforced (12%) for higher stiffness and durability
- Heat stable up to 150 °C without load
- Annealable for significantly higher heat deflection temperature
- Prints with generic PLA settings, no enclosure needed
- High-speed printing up to 350 mm/s
- Textured matte finish that hides layer lines
- Sealed with desiccant and wound on a recycled, recyclable cardboard spool
Printing Recommendations
Because glass fiber is abrasive, use a 0.4 mm or larger hardened steel or ruby nozzle. Otherwise, HT-PLA-GF behaves like standard PLA, so most printers can run it with little or no tuning.
- Nozzle temperature: 210–230 °C
- Bed temperature: 25–60 °C
- Cooling fan: on
- Print speed: up to 350 mm/s
- Enclosure: not needed
Good to Know
Layer adhesion is lower than standard PLA, so HT-PLA-GF is not recommended for single-wall prints. It is ideal for brackets, tool holders, car accessories, outdoor fixtures, and other functional parts. Looking for a non-abrasive option with more colors? Polymaker HT-PLA offers similar heat stability without glass fiber.
